Incentives

Financial and Moral Incentives

What are the incentives to have a solar thermal or PV system installed on your business or residence? How soon will it pay for itself? How much money will it make you once it is paid for? How much will fossil fuel prices fluctuate? How will it make you feel to create your own clean and emission free energy from the sun?

Please feel free to give us a call or even stop by to see a system in operation. We’d be happy to discuss the possibilities and costs for your home or building.

The PA Sunshine Program - 25%-35%

Here in Pennsylvania, for the time being, The Pennsylvania Sunshine Grant program offers a grant equal to 25% of the cost of your system. The state will issue a check directly to the system owner after installation. For photovoltaic installations, the program provides a $1.25 per watt rebate. For solar thermal systems, the grant is up to $2,000 for residential systems and $20,000 for commercial systems. You may even be eligible for low income solar assistance equal to 35% of your system cost. Adam Solar Resources is a registered PA Sunshine Solar Thermal and Photovoltaic Installer and will complete the application on your behalf through the state website. Wow, that sounds easy. Yep, it is!

UPDATE JULY 12': PA SUNSHINE PROGRAM IS ON A WAITING LIST AND CURRENT FUNDING LEVEL OF $.75/w

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 - 30%

Following on the heels of The Energy Policy Act of 2005 and The Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is here and gives 30% towards solar projects while removing the prior $2,000 cap. For residential applicants, the 30% is a Personal Tax Credit. Commercial applicants however, may receive a 30% grant in lieu of a 30% tax credit. ASR will help you through the paperwork.

AECs and SRECs

Alternative Energy Credits and Solar Renewable Energy Credits. At this time, AECs and SRECs are not available for solar thermal applications, only photovoltaic. These are credits that have a market determined value per 1000 kWh of electricity produced through solar. The credits allow retail energy suppliers to demonstrate their compliance with ever increasing alternative energy production regulations. Conservation

“Every watt or BTU not used is a watt or BTU that doesn’t have to be produced, processed or stored.”
