One of the larger unfinished debates in the solar thermal industry regards the use of flat plate collectors vs. evacuated tubes. We are conducting our own comparison here at ASR headquarters. The basis of our premise is to spend the same amount of money towards each type of technology and then compare the results they produce. We will also provide feedback on installation time, the comparative costs, and overall opinion from handling and monitoring both style collectors. Keep in mind each collector’s efficiencies can often vary by region and climate condition; and that this comparison is taking place in Pittsburgh, PA. Enjoy the photos and construction process until the project is complete and we have data to debate. Cheers.
